Designed in 2006 by Marc Sadler, the Twiggy floor lamp became an instant classic. The inspiration for this iconic design? The flexibility of a fishing rod - evident in the slender yet sturdy stem of the Twiggy which allows for its impressive reach, created using cleverly concealed counterweights. The flexible stem sits on a slim flat base which makes it easy to slide under a sofa or table if required.
Perfect for both home and office, Twiggy adds both flair and functionality, providing direct overhead lighting without glare as its lamps are hidden behind a diffuser. Not just a downlight, a soft reflective glow is also emitted through the transparency of the upper disc.
Twiggy’s height can be adjusted to three different levels by using the two counterweights which are disguised from view in the shade. Additional stem sets further extend its height and increase its reach from 170 – 200cm. Adjustable height and reach gives Twiggy versatility making it an ideal floor light in many different spaces: over a desk, dining table, bed, sofa or armchair.
“Create and define a personal space, a welcoming area, where you can relax and feel at home even if you are far away.” Carlo Urbinati, President of Foscarini.
The Twiggy floor lamp is available to view in our brand new showroom: David Village Lighting, The Old Cinema, 5-13 Ashgate Road, Broomhill, Sheffield, S10 3BZ.
In the world of the Twiggy, bigger is always better! In 2015, the thin, flexible feature of the original Twiggy became “oversized” in Twice as Twiggy, a floor lamp designed for large spaces, without foregoing lightness. Twice as Twiggy is a perfect addition, as a statement piece, in a large commercial space or design studio.
“Twice as Twiggy is a colossal version of the floor lamp Twiggy, designed by Marc Sadler: an iconic piece and a space-defining lighting object,” Carlo Urbinati, President of Foscarini.
As part of New York City’s Design Week, Foscarini used their Twice as Twiggy floor lamp in their aptly named photography project: ‘Twice Light’. The project, captured by photographer Gianluca Vassallo, invited New Yorkers, two strangers, to meet together on the street under a Foscarini Twice as Twiggy.
“Under the overarching presence and warm glow of Twice as Twiggy, people were enveloped within its magical cone of light and, like thrown in a new dimension, they had the possibility to create an intimate and private zone even in a public and hectic space as the City of New York” Carlo Urbinati, President of Foscarini.

New Foscarini Dolmen
A new year brings new designs and the first of many from Foscarini is the Dolmen collection.
The design is one of Foscarini most iconic, originally designed by Ferruccio Laviani in the mid-Nineties. The collection has been reworked to adapt to the new opportunities offered by LED technology.
The collection includes a suspension and floor version both using a dimmable LED source which provides a warm uniform light and allows a slimmer aesthetic.
The finishes transform its personality and suggest different feelings and settings; matt orange with an industrial tone or a matt brushed aluminium for hightech inspiration, or a warm bronze colour.
The Floor lamp is designed to be rested against a wall and give out a diffused and reflected light. The suspension hangs gracefully giving both a direct and indirect light.
Both the floor and suspension versions are made from a laser-cut sheet of aluminium which is bent using a pressure bending machine and hand finished. The aluminium is anodised and subsequently liquid coated with transparent varnish or coloured paint. The collection is available aluminium, orange or bronze.

New finishes to the Foscarini collections
Tuareg
The existing Tuareg floor collection designed in 2013 now includes a matt white finish. Based on the architecture of archaic cultures, the Tuareg is a lamp with a powerful image like a work of land art in an interior landscape.
The structure is composed of aluminium tubing which creates a vivid and dynamic three dimensional form. The new matt white finish joins the original matt orange and glossy black.

Le Soleil
A sphere composed of irregular bands, the Le Soleil pendant is large in size but visually light. When on, thanks to the bands, the light flows outward like sunbeams glimpsing through a cloud.
The Le soleil is now available with an integrated LED which creates a decorative and illuminating effect at the same time as a beam of light being projected downwards.
The Le Soleil is now available in an original copper and bronze finish that brings a new personality, enhancing the warm, natural glow of the lamp.

Spokes
The Spokes lamp is based on an observation of the spokes of a bicycle wheel, generating an object of great iconic force. Today the Spokes range now includes metallised finishes making the spokes seem even more slender and precious. The collection is now available in an elegant graphite and a warm copper tone which transform the presence of Spokes and opens up a world of decor possibilities.

New in from Foscarini
Satellight
The new collection Satellight by Foscarini is designed by Eugeni Quitllet, a graduate from Llotja ArtSchool in Barcelona. Satellight is a simple, immediately understandable object but at the same time it is original and profound in its poetic lightness, that goes straight to the heart.
The diffuser is handcrafted milk white blown glass which is placed in a transparent blown glass body that like magic seems to support the core of the satellight, capturing its light.
When on thanks to a dimmable LED source it gives a warm, soft and gentle light adding precious reflections to the shiny transparent glass of the enclosure. The collection includes a suspension and table version which are both available online now.
Click here to view the Satellight collection!
Filo
The new Filo table design by Andrea Anastasio comes from the desire to display the individual parts that go into a lamp; the light source, decoration and electrical wiring. The character of the lamp is the result of using decoration to play a fundamental role, incorporating elements that are not traditionally considered decorative. The wire which allows the lamp to perform its purpose runs along through the cord, spheres and bulbs of glass which transform the design into the archetype of a necklace.
The table lamps has a wide range of colour options from watercolour tones to the transparent hues of Murano glass, bright colours with ethnic colours to the fluorescent tones of contemporary cityscapes, making it a light fitting in a wide range of settings.

Arumi
Arumi, designed by Lecidi e Pevere reflects Foscarini’s ability to transform an industrial object made in die-cast aluminium alloy, into a finely crafted artefact. Handcrafted, the irregular finish of all the outer surfaces and the three reliefs bring rhythm to the piece. The pendant is a precious elegant pendant and beautiful either on or off. When on the luminous part has been designed to be gentle on eye of the observer and soft in its light emission to enhance the elegance of the polished interior.
The LED light source is shielded from view as placed inside a very pure transparent cylinder specifically designed to project the beam onto the polished inner walls and projects the light downwards. Arumi can be used on its own, in cluster or in linear compositions with the Foscarini multiple ceiling plate.

Product focus – Foscarini Chouchin
The Foscarini Chouchin is a family of suspension lamp with the original design released in 2011 by French designer Ionna Vautrin. The name is taken from traditional Japanese paper and bamboo lanterns that are used as light bright signs outside restaurants or bars or as lucky charms outside homes.
Their traditional shape has been reinterpreted into a pure contemporary style using blown glass which has been painted to make it completely opaque and glossy. The family includes three shapes, each with its colour: orange for the large version, grey for the small version and green for the elongated one.
Next in the collection came the Mini version which was released in 2013. This version is available in two shapes and again each with its colour: orange for the large version and green for the elongated one. Similar as with the larger on the lower rim remains white to create a distinguishing graphic mark when the lamp is switched off and an incandescent luminous border when it is on. The Chouchin Mini is designed to be hung alone as a poetic suspended lantern or in a row, group, or even as a collective with larger models.
The third design of the family is the Chouchin reverse. The design has the same three shapes as before but the colours have been inverted; the diffuser is now white while the lower rim is the colour as the shape before. The change in the design is not only the colour but the light as now thanks to the pale glass diffuser it not only directs light down - like the original Chouchin - but diffuses a beautiful glow to its surroundings.

Our 10 Favourite Recent Releases
Over the last couple of months we have added lots of new and exciting designs and we have picked out our favourite ten to share with you!
Muuto Ambit Rail
The new Muuto Ambit Rail is an extension from the Ambit series. The design is constructed using three Ambit shade mounted onto a tube leaving a minimal yet striking impression of a reformed, modernised chandelier. A key focus of the Ambit Rail is its fluidity with all joints and cable hidden and the supporting wire remarkably thin.
Moooi Perch collection
It’s too hard to pick just one item from the new Moooi Perch collection so we’ve picked it all. With perch, designer Umut Yamac has designed a collection which encaptures the beauty of an exotic bird blissfully perched upon a tree. The collection is timeless, created with paper and brass detailing. The beautiful simplicity of the collection means you can either fill the room with a forest or pick just one as a statement piece.
Anglepoise Original 1227 Ceramic Collection
The new Ceramic collection by Anglepoise includes a pendant, a cluster, a table lamp and a wall lamp which all exude simplicity and elegance. The collection features a glossy bone china shade with chrome plated fittings and a grey fabric cable. Formed from the purest bone china, the white glossy shade turns translucent when on radiating a soft, ambient light around the room.
Brokis Knot
The Knot is a statement collection which includes 4 pendants each with different shaped mouth blown glass shades. The beautiful design combines coarse natural fibres with smooth, transparent blown glass and a robust cord with seemingly pulls the bottom of the glass inwards. The collection creates an impressive display whether hung along or in a group.
Bocci 84 Series
Despite not officially being available until September we couldn’t wait to get it online to show off to you. The new Bocci 84 is collection which has many compositions and at the bottom of each cable has a white glass moil which is captured inside a fine copper mesh basket and then plunged into hot clear glass creating the shade. Sometimes the copper mesh basket folds and crinkles, adding specificity to each piece.
Axo Orchid Collection
The latest collection by Axo is Orchid which includes wall, ceiling, suspension and floor lamps which are available in either white or sand. Austrian designer Rainer Mutsch designed the collection with two separate yet complementary souls, one outer that of nature with its flower shaped diffuser and the other which is more hidden, a high tech integral LED.
Kartell Aledin
The new Aledin table by Kartell includes two different styles, Tec and Dec. The Aledin Tec has a flat head which gives out an adjustable direct light thanks to the movement of the diffuser head. The Aledin Dec is a more decorative shape with a cone shape diffuser with the light which Dec gives out is wider and more atmospheric. The two polycarbonate arms create the structure and are available in a range of fun colours.
Moooi NR2
A relation to the existing Non-random collection by Moooi the NR2 is a collection with three suspensions and a floor version. The elegant bubble shade is available in either white or black thread and is fitted with and integrated LED which gives out a soft diffused glow. The NR2 is currently available in the medium size with the small pendant, large pendant and floor version available soon.
Resident Bloom
The latest release from resident is a beautiful pendant made from a finely perforated mesh core and frosted blown glass. The two combined projects a soft focus texture onto the inside of the shade. The Bloom pendant is inspired by the gentle dynamic flow of paper lanterns and is available in either black or white.
Foscarini Twice as Twiggy
The Twice as Twiggy is a design by Marc Salder who was inspired by the flexibility of a fishing rod and has become an icon of contemporary design. The release is an oversized version of the original Twiggy and retains the lightweight feel and flexibility while create a statement even in a large room. The design has been able to be achieved thanks to a steel cable which is concealed within while the lampshade, which is both large and extremely light-weight, is balanced by the appropriately sized base.

Spring has returned to warm our skin and brighten our outlook! This is the perfect time to start preparing our garden for summer, allowing us to stay outside longer. Treating your garden like another room of the house will add value to your property and increase your own enjoyment of it.
Lighting is a practical addition to any exterior space as well a beautiful decorative feature. Wall lights, floor standing and table lamps are traditional lighting forms which work very well. There are also recessed spotlights for decking and flooring, spike spotlights to illuminate plants and bollards to light your way.

During our visit to the Stockholm Furniture and Lighting Fair we got the chance to see some of the latest designs from the brands that we work with.
Light Years
Released late last year the Suspence collection from Light Years is already a popular design of theirs. The inspiration for the design by GamFratesi's was translating a movement into a physical shape. The pendants design is perceived to be uninterrupted with an infinity diffuser at the bottom which prevents glare and creates an elegant diffused light.
Released at the same time was the Suspence Nomad which is designed to be placed on a horizontal surface for example a floor or staircase. Just like a nomad it can be moved from place to place with ease by lifting the silicone handle at the top.
Orsjo
Konkret is a brand new pendant by Orjso which caught everyone attention at the fair. The series puts Orsjo’s constituent material to the test. Despite the pendants name suggesting a much harder material it is made from ash veneer with a black ombre tint and has fine details such its brass studs which attached the leather straps.
“I wanted to challenge the way we use wood as a material for lights and show how the texture of the material can be changed through its design and how this also creates a natural and warm light,” says designer Jonas Edvard.
Louis Poulsen
This year Louis Poulsen has released one new design and has updated 2 of it most popular collections. At their stand in Stockholm they had all three of the latest releases. Shown below are a few designs from the updated PH collection and the new Above pendant. Keep your eyes peeled as we will soon be revealing the second collection to be updated by Louis Poulsen.
Foscarini
Late last year Foscarini along with the Aplomb Large released the Spokes 2 Large pendant and the New Buds collection. The three designs have already proved popular with their simple and modern design. All three work well to be placed either in the home or in a commercial area.
Secto
Finnish based lighting company Secto made a simple yet stunning display. The company specialises in hand-made wooden design lighting. Their stand showed two new designs, the new Teelo table and a yet unnamed wall light. The Teelo table has a simple yet stylish design which incorporates a sculptural tone and secto’s signature clean lines.
The new wall was designed in response to the clear demand for a light which is not suspended but fixed. The design brings a new character to ceiling and wall fixtures where wood is not a material commonly used.

Foscarini at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2017
Last year at Stockholm’s biggest design event Foscarini were honoured with the ‘Best Stand: editor’s choice’ award. It was easy to see why the iconic Italian brand won the award in 2016 from the astounding amount of effort and creativity which went into their display. A tunnel was created to immerse people into the wonderful world of Foscarini design, featuring new styles and classic best sellers.
Since Foscarini’s impressive presentation last year we could see that this year brands stepped up their game to produce innovative and effective display stands.
Once again, as soon as you walked into Hall B of the 2017 Stockholm Furniture & Lighting Fair, Foscarini did not fail to capture everyone’s attention.
Six layers of sheer fabric acted almost as a dreamy tent, beckoning you to come inside and discover the stunning illuminations within. Walking down the central archway, Foscarini created a set which you could interact with. The flowing fabric partially concealed the products but encouraged you to discover them.
See for yourself in our video how captivating Foscarini’s 2017 display is.

In March’s issue of Elle Decoration Editor Michelle Ogundehin discusses the idea of grey being the new neutral. Over the last few years neutrals have turned their connotations from boring dull shades to now express high end style. In the mist of that, grey is also now going against the ideas of being an old age, cold colour and is now one which is seen to easily fit into your interior giving you a step up from whites and neutrals.

Featured – Foscarini Birdie
The Birdie collection by Foscarini is a family of lamps which is inspired by the poetic image of a bird on a branch.
Although they are all recognisably part of the birdie collection, each version of the birdie lamp is a design in its own right. The collection includes suspension, wall, floor and table options and is available in White, Grey, Amaranth or Orange.
Wall
The Birdie wall model expands the possibility of creating combination of the various versions. It’s subtle design and natural inspiration allows the wall version to blend in easily with the most unlikely of settings creating a different looks for each space.
Suspension
The Birdie suspension is suspended in the air with its straightforward and harmonious diffuser. Multiple suspension versions are also available. With either 3,6 or 9 shades the suspension has the same number of white finish arms which act almost like branches of a tree to support the diffusers. Thanks to the additional cable set, the Birdie pendant can be made to suit your room whatever the ceiling height and is available in a ceiling version should no drop be required.
Table
The Birdie table has a slim stem which represent the trunk of a tree. The shade is a reinterpretation of the classic reading lamp while the branch beckons your touch, turning it on or off. These elements work together to give life to a friendly lamp which combines a smooth and familiar structure with a bold character. The Birdie come in two sizes ensuring whether placed in the living room, on a desk or on a bedside table the lamp fits in naturally in the space and add a stylish touch to everyday life.
Floor
The Birdie floor has a similar design to the table with a long slim stem and a classic shade with a branch like detail. The Birdie floor stands at 150cm and is perfect to be used to light a area for example where you sew or read.

We are happy to announce that the long awaited latest designs from Foscarini are now available online!
The Aplomb Large is a new lamp made from concrete but with a different shape from the original. The new design is not just larger in size but also fitted with a built in LED light source which is placed into the body of the lamp casting a wide beam of light onto the surface below.
The Aplomb Large is made by Italian experts which faced a challenge to obtain a slim thickness, a lightweight shape and a textured surface which is still pleasant to touch. This was all achieved by their profound knowledge of the raw material which allowed them to create the perfect mix which is fluid when poured into the cast.
The Aplomb Large is available in three different colours white, grey and brown made by pigments which are directly added to the material blend. The Aplomb Large is perfect for over a table, a kitchen island or placed in a repeated linear composition.
The Spokes 2 Large is a larger version of the original Spokes 2 suspension. The design draws inspiration from the spokes of a bicycle wheel, which contain the light within while at the same time allowing light to filter out. The built in LED makes it possible to light the floor or surface underneath while creating magical shadows on the walls and ceiling.
The lamp suits various settings such as in both residential and commercial areas perfect placed in the middle of the room or with the original version to create a fascinating lighting composition. The Spoke 2 Large has a 70cm diameter and is available in either white or yellow.
The Buds collection of table, floor and suspension lamps was designed in 1990 by Rodolfo Dordoni, an architect whose work ranges across furnishings, lamp design and many more. The lamps were made in brightly coloured blown glass, named after the natural elements: Fruits, Blossom and Buds. Today the Buds have been restyled again to interpret the contemporary and sophisticated focus on materials. The beauty of the design remains the blown glass with a five-layer hand-crafted process. The new range of colours includes cold brown, cold grey, bamboo green and white and with a straw-yellow internal finish the lamp is warm when the lamp is on and cold when off.

Featured – Caboche
One of Foscarini’s most loved collections is the Caboche which includes suspension, ceiling, floor, table and wall versions.
The Caboche was first introduced in 2005 by designers Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto.
The design is the result of the desire to create a precious and charming lamp like a pearl bracelet which focuses on a lightweight, transparent design. The Caboche collection is rich, bright and sophisticated and when turned on provides 360° of beautiful bright light like crystals surrounding the environment.
The lamps produce a diffused light with the different versions offering different illumination options.
Available in transparent, golden or yellow the lamps are made with a blown glass internal diffuser and satin finish opaline glass lower screen.
