Clerkenwell Design Week 2025: A Recap

30 May 2025

Our Team Lino Printing at Muuto

Clerkenwell Design Week is an annual design festival consisting of 16+ exhibition venues, 160+ showrooms, engaging installations, topical talks with leading creatives, and hundreds of programmed events. Nestled into the creative Hub of Clerkenwell, CDW is a highlight on our calendar, and every year our team travels down to London to stay updated on the latest designs, upcoming launches and industry news.

This year, we managed to explore a variety of showrooms as well as some eye-catching exhibitions throughout the streets of Clerkenwell. We were also lucky enough to take part in a private lino printing event at the Muuto showroom, and our Business Development Manager, Jack, had a chance to share some of his industry knowledge at the [d]arc thoughts talks programme.

The knowledge we gain at events such as Clerkenwell Design Week is passed onto our customers, so it seemed only right that we put together a recap of the showrooms we were able to tour, the products we had a chance to see and some of our general highlights.

Bert Frank

The Bert Frank showroom in Farringdon is a beautiful example of sophisticated contemporary design. Echoing the themes and strong influences which Bert Frank have embedded as its signature style, the showroom is warm and inviting. Bert Frank's designs are inspired by a desire for beautiful objects and a passion for lifestyle-enhancing design. And each product is skillfully crafted in their Birmingham-based workshop.

Showcasing a range of collections and applications, our team were able to interact with a range of classic designs as well as an exclusive look at an upcoming launch. The products on display in the showroom are all highly customisable, allowing customers to choose the metal used, leather finish, structure finish and even the colour of the cable for table and floor lamps. This means that you can easily generate a completely unique Bert Frank lighting solution.

Muuto

The Muuto showroom offers a peaceful oasis in St. John Square, this year with an added exterior space to showcase their outdoor furniture and IP-rated portables. Not only were our team able to tour the Muuto showroom to see the classic designs and latest 2025 releases, but we were also able to partake in a unique lino printing workshop.

Amongst the designs we interacted with was the new larger variation of the Beam Table Lamp that was released at the start of this year, as well as the Strand Table Lamp, also in a new large version. The new Translucent White Unfold Pendant was a hit, offering a more vibrant illumination that would make a perfect addition to kitchens and dining spaces.

Secto

This year at Clerkenwell Design Week, Secto teamed up with Conran and Partners, an internationally renowned architecture and interior design practice, founded by Sir Terence Conran. Using the practices London space, Secto showcased the history of their brand as well as the manufacturing process, giving our team a more insightful look into how their iconic wooden lighting solutions are made. The installation explores the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable design and craftsmanship. Since its founding in 1995, Secto Design has been a pioneer in the use of certified birch combined with contemporary architectural aesthetics.

We were also able to get a hands-on demonstration of Secto's new Adilo Pedant, launching later in the year. Designed by Finnish wood artisan and industrial designer Ilkka Kauppinen, Adilo merges Secto's signature elements – Finnish birch wood and geometric precision – and effortlessly unfurls into a sculptural pendant lamp in a single motion.

Mater

Another highlight was our visit to Mater’s Earth Gallery. Tucked away in a calm corner of Clerkenwell, the space brought together design, sustainability, and storytelling in a way that felt both grounded and forward-thinking.

Alongside some of Mater’s signature furniture pieces, we were able to preview the Mater Terra Collection, a UK exclusive to David Village Lighting. The range includes a portable table lamp, a pendant, and a wall light, all available in black or rust red. Like all of Mater’s work, the Terra range is underpinned by material innovation. Each piece is crafted from the brand’s proprietary Matek material, developed using upcycled coffee waste and e-waste, reflecting Mater’s ongoing commitment to circular production.

Thoughtful, minimalist, and made with a clear environmental ethos, the Terra Collection manages to be both visually striking and conceptually quiet – a combination that felt entirely in step with the wider themes we saw across Clerkenwell this year.

Tom Dixon

Located in London's Coal Drops Yard, the Tom Dixon showroom spans numerous rooms showcasing a large variation of their product offering, including lighting, furniture and accessories. Our team were given a tour of the space as well as the design offices upstairs, offering a sneak peek into both 2025 and 2026 upcoming launches.

This showroom was the first time we were able to interact with the new Pose collection, which launched earlier this year, as well as the Bell Portable in the brand new Indigo Blue and Moss Green. The Unbeaten Pendants were also on display in a cluster, showcasing a variety of shapes and highlighting the industrial nature of the design.

J. Adams

The J. Adams brand is a new addition to the David Village Lighting catalogue, and already, we are seeing it rise in popularity. They are quintessential British designers who seamlessly blend tradition with innovation, crafting exceptional luminaires that embody engineering precision and timeless elegance. Utilising materials such as brass, glass, and natural stone, J. Adams creates bespoke lighting solutions designed to last for generations.

CDW was some of our team's first time seeing their lighting solutions in person, and their London showroom did not disappoint. Every detail was considered, generating a harmonious space where you can easily browse their warm and inviting collection.

Dusty Deco

Dusty Deco are a Swedish brand rooted in a love for vintage furniture and eclectic design that we have recently added to our catalogue. Their designs range from small accessories to large floor lamps and sofas, and everything in between. Dusty Deco are a harmonious mix of mid-century influences, Southern European design, and bold, maximalist contrasts, resulting in collections that feel both timeless and modern.

Being able to see these designs in person and experience the varying materials and warm colour palette has given our team a newfound love for the brand that we cannot wait to pass onto our customers.

Our Business Development Manager, Jack, during his talk on Residential Lighting

This year at CDW 2025, our Business Development Manager, Jack, had the chance to travel down to London to talk on a panel about the latest challenges and trends within interior and lighting design for the home.

With over eight years of experience in design retail, with five of those focused specifically on lighting, Jack’s role at David Village Lighting centres on helping specifiers integrate premium decorative and architectural lighting into their projects.

We hope everyone who was able to attend this year's [d]arc thoughts talks programme enjoyed Jack's insightful look into residential lighting, and for those that were unable to make it, keep your eyes peeled for when we publish the full talk to our YouTube account.

The David Village Lighting team thoroughly enjoyed another trip to Clerkenwell Design Week!

Thank you to all of the brands that took the time to meet with us and show us around, and a huge well done to all of the people who worked hard behind the scenes to ensure Clerkenwell Design Week 2025 was a huge success. We already can't wait for next year!
