Our Highlights from 3daysofdesign

27 June 2025

Last week, the David Village Lighting team travelled to Copenhagen for 3daysofdesign, Denmark’s annual design festival that fills the city with creativity, new ideas, and product launches from some of the most exciting brands in global design.

Set across showrooms, studios, and pop-up spaces, the event offered three full days of discovery. From sculptural lighting and tactile materials to thoughtful sustainability talks and quiet moments of inspiration, here’s a look at some of our favourite highlights.

Muuto Rime Rail Pendant

Muuto

Modern Simplicity and Material Warmth

At Muuto’s calm and carefully curated showroom, we saw a number of new releases, including the Rime Rail Lamp, Loop Wall Light, and a new Beam Wall Light, a sculptural piece offering both up and down lighting in one minimal form.

A talk on sustainability also gave us a deeper look into Muuto’s values, with transparency and responsible production at the heart of their process. And to round off the visit, we joined the always-popular Muuto Party, a summer rooftop celebration and one of the week’s most talked-about events.

Nuura Asteea Suspension

Nuura

Lighting Inspired by Nature

A highlight for many was our visit to Nuura, whose floral-filled showroom brought together soft curves, warm light, and a sense of calm. The new Asteea collection draws inspiration from bell flowers, with rippled acrylic shades and satin brass details that bring softness and structure in equal measure.

The collection spans wall, ceiling, chandelier, and portable options, each creating an ambient glow that’s perfect for bedrooms, living rooms, and other quiet corners of the home.

Le Klint Model 189 Pendant

Le Klint

Classic Craft, Reimagined

We’ve always admired Le Klint for their craftsmanship and this year’s launches reminded us just how versatile their pleated lighting can be.

Among the new pieces:

  • Model 1 is now available in a range of beautiful new colours
  • The new Softly Pleated collection uses felt to combine warm lighting with subtle acoustic properties
  • The iconic 101 Lantern is now available as a chandelier and wall light
  • And the Model 189 pendant offers a long, narrow format that works beautifully over a dining table

We also witnessed a live demonstration of Le Klint’s hand-pleating process, a slow, skilled craft that’s still done in-house at their Odense studio.

&Tradition Mist Portable Lamp

&Tradition

Future Icons and Digital Transparency

Blending Danish design heritage with new innovations, &Tradition launched several exciting pieces at this year’s festival:

We also previewed their new Digital Product Passport, which allows you to scan a QR code and instantly access detailed info about a product’s materials, origin, and sustainability.

Mater Terra Portable

Mater

Sustainable Design with Soul

In their central Copenhagen pop-up, Mater showcased the Terra collection by OEO Studio, now in a new Coffee Waste Light finish. The pieces, available as pendant, wall, and portable lights, are made using Matek™, a unique material created from recycled e-waste and coffee shells.

Sustainable, minimal, and beautifully tactile, the collection feels as good as it looks. We’re proud to be the exclusive UK retailer of this range.

Normann Copenhagen Phantom Collection

Normann Copenhagen

Sculptural Forms and Expressive Spaces

At Normann Copenhagen, we explored their UNFRAMED exhibition, a multi-storey installation that blurred the lines between furniture, lighting, and art.

New releases included:

  • Reb, a sculptural LED pendant made from flexible mesh tubes
  • Phantom Table and Floor Lamps, bringing a warm, ambient glow through layered resin
  • Act Pendant, crafted from repurposed water pipe waste, offering a sustainable twist on the classic opal glass pendant

Each piece felt expressive but accessible, perfect for homes that want lighting to feel a little more like art.

Tom Dixon Whirl Collection

Tom Dixon

Playful Ideas and Archival Energy

At THE SHOP, Tom Dixon’s temporary store in central Copenhagen, we explored new and upcoming designs including:

  • JACK Portable, a sculptural seat and light hybrid
  • WHIRL, a hypnotic polycarbonate light with mirrored spiral forms
  • And new takes on existing collections like POSE, Press, and the unreleased Soft Pendant

We were also lucky enough to attend a talk by Tom Dixon himself, where he shared thoughts on form, material, and the role of design in everyday spaces.

Lee Broom Chant Portable Lamp

Lee Broom

Immersive Design for Dramatic Spaces

Lee Broom’s latest exhibition was set within the historic Asia House. The space was imagined as an abandoned explorer’s home, crates, draped textiles, and global artefacts formed a cinematic backdrop to the brand’s lighting collections.

We previewed several notable pieces, including:

  • Chant, a sculptural portable table lamp made from hand-blown glass, offering four dimming settings and IP rating.
  • King, ideal for large-scale spaces needing strong architectural focus
  • Crescent, now available in blackened brass, adding depth and drama to a well-loved silhouette.
  • Requiem Wall Light, crafted by hand in plaster, each piece is unique, offering ambient light.

Meeting with Lee Broom and hearing the creative intent behind each design reinforced the brand’s alignment with decorative, statement-led schemes.

New Works Kantarell Collection

New Works

Boutique Hotel Energy

To celebrate their tenth anniversary, New Works transformed their showroom into a boutique hotel, complete with mood lighting, soft textures, and an open champagne bar.

New launches included the Kantarell collection by Falke Svatun – dramatic yet elegant in form – and a new white finish for the much-loved Margin series.

And we were lucky enough to be invited to their Courtyard Garden Party, a quiet celebration of all the things New Works does so well: mood, material, and moments of warmth.

Looking Ahead

As always, 3daysofdesign was a reminder of how lighting sits at the intersection of emotion, environment, and everyday life. We came away with new ideas, stronger relationships, and plenty of inspiration for the months ahead.

Thank you to all the brands who hosted us, and stay tuned as we begin to bring some of these new collections into our showroom and online store.
