Smoke Dining Chair by Moooi

A stunning and unique chair that Maarten Baas designed as part of his graduation project. Baas believed that we as humans have a tendency to maintain the beauty in things as a static concept; opposite to how things in nature are constantly in flux, ever changing. The wood goes through a unique process, first burned and charcoaled and then treated with epoxy resin which will make the material usable again. The Smoke Dining chair has its frame made from this wood and the seating made of foam and leather.

The Smoke dining chairs are definitely one of a kind, and would look great around a dining table, meeting room, waiting area or conference room. The chairs bring a unique and mystical vibe into any interior. Moreover, pieces of the Smoke collection can be found today in various museums, like the Victoria & Albert Museum or the Groninger Museum.
