HAY Nelson Apple Bubble Pendant

The HAY Nelson Apple Bubble Pendant was created by American designer George Nelson in 1947. When looking for a set of silk-covered Swedish pendant lamps for his office, Nelson discovered that the options were too expensive. This led him to create a more cost-effective version of the popular pendant, recreating the lampshades using a self-webbing polymer spray developed by the U.S. military. This material has since become a staple in George Nelson’s designs and is featured throughout the Nelson Bubble Collection.

The Nelson Apple Bubble Pendant has a clean, rounded symmetry. Its delicate and lightweight appearance gives the illusion that the pendant is floating in midair. When illuminated, the shade diffuses light into a soft, glare-free glow, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere.
