The Akari 9AD Floor and Table Lamp was designed by Isamu Noguchi, who drew inspiration from traditional Japanese lanterns. The Japanese word "Akari" is translated to "light", a link to the goal of the entire collection, as the whole collection can be characterised by every light's weightless luminosity.
Each 9AD Lamp is created from traditional washi paper with a steel base to create a perfect equilibrium between practicality and ambience. What it differs from most of the Akari collection is in its bold colouring. The contrast between the white painted washi paper and the blue Japanese pattern makes it a great statement piece for your living room, study or even kitchen. Each 9AD is handcrafted in the Ozeki workshop in Gifu and finished with a sun and moon logo, guaranteeing authenticity to the owner and resembling their Japanese heritage.
Isamu Noguchi was a Japanese-American artist and designer, he studied at both Columbia University and Leonardo da Vinci Art School.
