Niclas Hoflin

Niclas Hoflin is the founder at head designer at Rubn, he developed a fascination with lighting from an early age - even making his own lamp at 7 years old. At the start of his career, he worked alongside his mentor Ole Palsby, who assisted in training him and encouraging his pursuit of a design career. The inspiration he gathered from Palsby can be seen throughout the Rubn catalogue, an ode to his skills and knowledge.

Hoflin's work prioritises simplicity, functionality and durability and prides himself on only creating designs that he would want in his own home. He founded Rubn in 2010, today it is a family business with the greatest attention to precision, and detail, manufacturing lighting solutions to last for a lifetime. Hoflin understands the importance of lighting in our everyday lives and believes it can create the feeling of intimacy, security, or kindness, just as easily as it can give you a sense of loneliness or discomfort. Every product he designs for Rubn is locally handmade and is crafted to last.
