Moooi Perch

As a child, designer Umut Yamac was told that birds that often visit a garden were people who had passed, checking in on their loved ones. He used this emotional connection for the Perch Collection, inspired by the idea that birds can be connected to people past and present. The Collection, comprising of a suspension, floor lamp, table lamp, and wall light, is characterised by ornate birds perched on a brass perch. Yamac experimented with a variety of materials for the birds before settling on polypropylene paper, noting its archival properties. Brass-painted aluminium details on the bird add to the collection’s ornamental appearance.

Interactivity is at the heart of the Perch Collection. With a gentle touch, the paper bird rocks on its golden perch. When switched on, the Perch creates a cosy, inviting ambiance as light is diffused through polypropylene paper. This warm glow is an excellent addition to bedrooms, sitting rooms, and reading nooks, allowing you to create a sanctuary within the home. In commercial spaces, the Perch Collection complements luxurious settings such as a boutique or high-end restaurant.
