Verpan Fun 5DM Suspension

The Verpan Fun 5DM Suspension light features two clusters of seashell shades which are delicately strung from the ceiling with intricate chains comprised of small metallic rings. The shades diffuse the light naturally through the seashell material which uses its natural transparency to also allow for a generous outpouring of light. This elaborate design, created by Verner Panton in 1964, was inspired by a trip to Malaysia in which Panton was overwhelmed by how the seashell material plays with light. Panton brought this material to this design because we was curious to create something brand new.

The seashells not only provide an intricate and beautiful visual feature but they also interact with air when in motion. This ceiling lamp has a unique way of creating a unique chiming sound as the seashells sway gently with the air.
