Moooi Emperor Suspended Pendant

The Emperor Suspended Pendant was inspired by an Asian folklore tale, where the emperor was gifted a nightingale bird. Enchanted by the nightingale's singing and beautiful appearance, he instantly fell in love with it and wished to keep it close to him forever. He ordered a beautiful and majestic cage to be built for the bird, so that the emperor could place the nightingale into his chambers. Design duo Neri&Hu created this literal interpretation of the emperor’s cage, transforming it into a contemporary designer light.

The Emperor Suspended Pendant is handcrafted from bamboo and rattan, which is expertly woven to create the pendant’s domed shade. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations from piece to piece, ensuring each pendant has a unique character. The Emperor features a glass diffuser, which creates a warm and ambient glow. The sculptural appearance of the pendant means that it is as attractive when switched off as it is when it’s lit. Available in two bold finishes (red and black) and three sizes, the Emperor Suspended Pendant will suit a range of spaces. In large spaces, create a dynamic display by installing the pendants in a cluster, varying in size and colour.
