Product Description

HAY Pao Steel Pendant


The HAY Pao Steel Pendant was designed by Naoto Fukazawa after a trip to the Mongolian mountains, during which he was inspired by the traditional nomadic Pao tents illuminated at night-time. He based his design on the sense of comfort and 'home' that the Pao tents created. Through the gentle domed profile and softly diffused lighting, Fukazawa beautifully recreates this comforting ambience.

The wide steel shade is available in three muted tones: Soft Black, Cool Grey, and Cream White. The 230 is also available in a bold red colourway. A flush acrylic diffuser conceals the light source while creating a warm, directional light, perfect for use above a dining table. With deliberate simplicity through a clean and simple design, the Pao Steel Pendant maintains a sense of lightness with no visual intrusions.

Naoto Fukasawa

Naoto Fukasawa is a Japanese designer, born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956. He studied at Tama Art University in their Product Design department and graduated in 1980. The same year as his graduation, Fukasawa joined Seiko Epson, where he was responsible for advanced development design, and his career began.
