Parentesi 50th Anniversary Edition Suspension Light by Flos
To celebrate its 50th year, the Parentesi suspension light
is reimagined in new colours, signal orange and turquoise, both of which are a tribute to the original creators, Achille Castiglioni, an iconic lighting/furniture designer and Pio Manzù, an inventor who designed the renowned FIAT 127 car.
The Parentesi was designed after Castiglioni saw some of Manzù's drawings, following his untimely death in 1969. The drawings included a cylindrical tin that emitted light which could be moved up and down on a rod and could make a half turn thanks to a screw. This turned into the basis of the Parentesi suspension as Castiglioni developed the design by creating a light with a wire instead of a rod and a fixture with a tube so that a screw wasn't needed. Now 50 years on, the Parentesi 50 retains all the original technical know-how for an innovative and contemporary light solution that can be applied in many areas and settings.
The Parentesi 50 suspension light can be used as a floor lamp, as an alternative to a traditional table lamp or wall light and as a ceiling or pendant light. The versatility of the ceiling-to-floor light makes it useful in homes and professional settings and also comes with a handy dimmer switch on the cable so you can control the ambience. Easy to move from place to place, the Parentesi 50 suspension lamp also comes in beautiful packaging that is inspired by a promotional case that Manzù used in 1965 for FIAT. Environmentally conscious and perfect for a nomadic lifestyle, the Parentesi 50th Anniversary light is a piece of history that will remain timeless in any interior.
