Minomushi Floor Lamp by Artemide
The Minomushi floor lamp is a sibling to the suspension version, all part of the IN-EI Issey Miyake collection created by Issey Miyake + Reality Lab in collaboration with Italian lighting brand, Artemide. The collection combined the new material, which Miyake's team developed, combined with Artemide's lighting expertise and technological know-how. They drew inspiration from the book "In'ei Reisan" by Junichiro Tanizaki, who described how small changes in depths and shadow patterns can create subtle changes of light. It was that attribute that Issey and his team wanted to bring to the modern spaces.
Issey and his research team created the 132.5 ISSEY MIYAKE back in 2010. This included a new process to create clothing, in which a single piece of material can be folded flat and then transform into three dimensional shapes. The material used for the shade is made entirely of recycled fibres from PET bottles. The material is wrinkled to add strength and a unique look to it. When unfolded the shade takes a spiral form, giving it 3D characteristics and no need for an internal structure.
The collection also includes the
