New Works

New Works is a Copenhagen-based design company founded in 2015 by Nikolaj Meier and Knut Bendik Humlevik, with the desire to establish a design house where design comes to life with care and intent. Together with a small, dedicated team, the pair set out to define a curated collection of elevated, yet accessible objects for a variety of living spaces. The result is a brand that pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality, whilst challenging the contemporary forms of today.

The New Works lighting collection modernises Scandinavian design by applying its styles, principles, and strong history of craftsmanship to a range of luxury materials such as brass, marble, and copper. Materials are the most crucial aspect of the brands designs and are at the heart of everything New Works do, creating sculptural objects that respect and honour the natural and individual qualities that each material contributes: from the strength of marble in their Kizu Table Lamp, to the warmth of oak in their Material Pendant.

New Works present an intersection between old and new and capture the essence of their four core principles: natural materials, experimental design, tactility, and craftsmanship. These values and the brand's dedication to them highlight New Works' love for design and their dedication to their products. To create their collection, New Works collaborates with a group of international, renowned artists and designers who share their obsession with detail and who strive to discover new forms, materials, and textures in the world around them.
