Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà is an Italian industrial designer, celebrated for his technical and artistic approach to design. He was born in Sicily before his family moved to Lumezzane, Italy, where he completed his education, graduating as an industrial expert. After graduating, Scutellà spend 12 years working as a senior Project Tech designer, creating die-cast pieces and plastic moulds for notable companies such as Kawasaki, Ducati, Mercedes, and Prisma. In the following 14 years, he collaborated with Pandora Design, UnitedPets, and Bialetti Industrie, developing stainless steel and plastic items.
When working on a design, Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà spends a lot of time in the research stage to ensure every aspect of the design has been carefully considered. He understands the emotions that a product can evoke and the unique story that each project can convey. This thoughtful approach to design has resulted in a variety of innovative products, including the Pirce Collection - a series of lights that won several awards, including The Good-Design (2008) and Red Dot (2009) awards.
“A lighting appliance has a soul, suggests a story, is often a poem with no written verses, made of a combination of light and dark colours.” - Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà
