A sculptural design by Verner Panton, the Verpan Wire collection was first conceived in 1972 with the table lamp, followed by the floor lamp in 1980, with the aim of challenging the status quo of mainstream design. By avoiding the mainstream, Verner Panton has created designs which are highly recognisable today as they were 50 years ago. Wire features a chrome-plated steel wire framework that widens into a hemisphere shape. This hemisphere holds a white plastic shade that conceals the inner light source and diffuses the illumination; the result is a calming, soft, ambient glow.
The Verpan Wire is incredibly versatile and can adapt to a range of modern interiors, especially in hallways, offices, dining areas and entryways. Despite being a classic for the brand, it harnesses a futuristic design with a soft industrial aesthetic. Both applications can be used independently or alongside each other for a cohesive lighting design; they differ only in height, harnessing the same shade dimensions and lighting properties.
