Louis Poulsen Centenary Edition

The Louis Poulsen Centenary Edition celebrates 100 years of Poul Henningsen's System PH, first developed in 1926 to create comfortable, glare-free artificial light. Its characteristic tiered shades are carefully proportioned to control how light is reflected and distributed, shielding the light source while providing a softer glow into the surrounding space and useful, directed illumination below. The same principles run throughout the collection, from compact portable and wall lamps to table, floor, pendant, and larger statement designs.

The collection revisits Henningsen's work through a mixture of familiar PH lamps and designs brought back from the Louis Poulsen archive. Aged brass, mouth-blown glass, and details drawn from earlier versions give many of the Centenary Editions a warmer, more traditional character. Amber and White Opal glass feature across several designs, while other interpretations include the opal glass PH 1/1 Portable and Chandelier and the PH 1/1 Piano Limited Edition 2026 with Dusty Terracotta shades. The Piano Lamp also returns one of Henningsen's more specialised designs, originally created to provide adjustable light for a pianist through its curved stem and counterweighted construction.

Across the collection, System PH adapts to different areas of the home while retaining Henningsen's focus on the relationship between light, shade, and the person using it. Table and floor lamps provide local light beside seating and beds; wall lights can be used individually or repeated through hallways, and the pendant and chandelier designs bring the PH lighting principle to dining spaces and larger interiors. Together, the Centenary Edition shows how both established and lesser-known PH designs continue to work within contemporary spaces a century after the system was introduced.
