The Seki-Han Collection was designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1963 and reissued in 2025. Scarpa is renowned for his unorthodox approach to design, using his initiative to embrace the process. His designs expertly blend tradition with innovation, which is beautifully showcased in the Seki-Han Collection. Named after a traditional Japanese rice dish, the use of ash echoes traditional Japanese luminaires. The wooden blades are handcrafted and precisely finished to ensure quality, durability, and aesthetic uniqueness.
The Seki-Han Collection includes a floor lamp and suspension. Each piece is characterised by the two ash blades, which are rotatable around a central tubular light source. A custom-developed dimmable linear LED light source is included; however, if required, the lamp can also be fitted with standard T8 LED tubes. When illuminated, the blades can be adjusted to offer direct and indirect light with symmetrical and asymmetrical distribution. When the blades are closed, a slight sliver of light remains, creating an ornate detail that adds to the lamp’s sculptural aesthetic.
The collection can be displayed throughout the home to create a cohesive theme. The Seki-Han Suspension is well-suited for use above a work surface or dining table, alternating between direct and indirect lighting depending on requirements. Display the Seki-Han Floor Lamp beside a bed or in a reading nook to create a cosy and welcoming ambience. In commercial spaces, the Seki-Han Collection can be used in hospitality settings to offer captivating lighting with a touch of elegance.
