Vitra Potence Wall Light

The Vitra Potence Wall Light is one of Jean Prouvé's puristic masterpieces and has become a classic design for the brand. It was created as a pivoting lamp for Jean Prouvé's house concept 'Maison Tropique' in 1950, and although the house was not successful, many of the individual elements of the design, such as this lamp, have become regarded as modern-day masterpieces.

Reduced to the essentials, Potence features a light bulb and a pivoting wall mount boasting a refined aesthetic. The long swing arm of the Vitra Potence Wall Light is crafted from powder-coated tubular steel with a beechwood handle, and the pure and functional nature of this light makes it fresh and modern, despite being created in the 20th century. Potence has enjoyed success for many decades. With such a long movement, the silhouette ensures ample light is supplied, and this wall light can serve as both a reading light and a general light when swung into the centre of a room.
