Santa & Cole La Bella Durmiente Floor Lamp

La Bella Durmiente Floor Lamp was originally designed in 1985 by Santa & Cole co-founders Gabriel Ordeig Cole and Nina Masó. Born in an era dominated by cold halogen lights, the colourful design of La Belle Durmiente was a defiant response to a light source considered blue and soulless. The resulting lamp is an expressive exploration of the potential of colour, with the contrasts between warm and cold hues creating a dynamic and balanced composition. The geometric forms printed on the shade are a nod to the works of notable abstract artists Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg.

La Bella Durmiente features a cardstock shade with Giclée print. When illuminated, light diffuses through the pigmented inks, creating a warm glow that surrounds the lamp. The aluminium internal structure houses the LED module and transparent methacrylate tube. Adjustable legs enable the user to display the lamp on uneven surfaces. The 2025 reissue of La Bella Durmiente maintains the same dimensions as the original design, allowing new screens to be fitted onto existing frames. This captivating floor lamp is available in two sizes, which can be displayed individually or together to create a splash of colour in any interior with a bold personality.
