Marset Funiculi Floor Lamp

Marset Funiculi Floor Lamp is an adjustable floor light by Lluís Porqueras, originally designed in 1979 and later reissued by Marset. Porqueras believed in removing unnecessary details from everyday objects, an approach reflected in Funiculi's simple construction. The lamp has a circular iron base, a slender upright stem, and a curved aluminium shade. Its name refers to a funicular, a system that moves up and down, describing the way the shade can be adjusted along the stem using a double-clip mechanism.

The shade can be raised or lowered and rotated through 360 degrees, allowing the light to be directed towards a book, work surface, or nearby wall. Beside a sofa or armchair, Funiculi can be positioned for reading, then turned away to provide softer reflected light when needed. The narrow stem and compact shade take up relatively little room, making the lamp useful in smaller living rooms, bedrooms, and reading corners where a larger floor lamp might get in the way.

Funiculi is made from lacquered iron and aluminium, with a rubber-wrapped base and a black electrical cable with an in-line on/off switch. The lamp is available in six finishes: Moss Grey, Off-White, Black, Green, Terracotta, and Mustard. The three brighter colours give the simple metal shade a stronger presence, while the neutral options are easier to pair with existing furniture and finishes. Most suited to living rooms, bedrooms, reading corners, lounges, home offices, studios, hotel rooms, and interiors where a floor lamp needs to provide adjustable, directional light.
