Originally designed in the mid 2000's, the Colonna stool is part of Ettore Sottsass "Kartell goes Sottsass - A Tribute to Memphis" collection. The collection is a homage to Ettore's Memphis Group, an Italian designer and architect group that took inspiration from the Art Deco and Pop Art movements.

Ettore Sottsass was an Austrian designer, born in Innsbruck in 1917. He studied Architecture at the Turin Polytechnic, where he graduated in 1939.
