Gubi 1972 Pendant

A poetic expression of craftsmanship and heritage, the Gubi 1972 Pendant revives Paavo Tynell’s original conical pendant design using hand-sewn bamboo slats and a linen inner liner. Conceived in 1972 and updated with sustainability in mind, this version features fast-growing bamboo in place of the original aspen, retaining the textural warmth and translucency that define the pendant’s character. Light is softly diffused through the shade, casting both downward illumination and a gentle upward glow that highlights the finely woven texture of the bamboo.

A brass core structure and polished brass detailing complete the composition, grounding the shade with subtle visual richness. Underneath, a fabric diffuser softens the light source, while a signature decorative brass flourish adds warmth and sculptural elegance. Ideal for statement placement above dining tables, in open-plan living rooms or hospitality spaces, the 1972 Pendant marries natural materiality with Tynell’s refined Nordic modernism to create a timeless centrepiece.
