Patrick Jouin is a French designer, born in Nantes in 1967. He earned a diploma from ENSCI - Les Ateliers when he graduated in 1992, before moving on to work under Philippe Starck at the Nordmende studio. Upon leaving Nordmende, Jouin moved on to continue his work with Starck at Starck's design studio, until 1999 when he focused on his own creations. He also worked alongside award-winning Chef Alain Ducasse, designing the interior Architecture and furniture for his restaurants - and bringing him to international prominence.

In 1998, Jouin founded Patrick Jouin ID, an Industrial Design studio based in Paris, he focused on interior design and product design, and he has become well known for his desire to utilise different materials, and his successful use of an elegant and clean style. The work of Jouin and his studio is to bring people together with design, and each product or interior is created for everyday use, with functionality at the heart of the aesthetic.

"As designers, we must be insolent in the face of adversity. It is not the time to churn out poems, but if we did, we would need to be effective poets." - Patrick Jouin.
