Michele De Lucchi is an Italian designer and architect who had a pivotal role in many experimental and progressive design movements in the late 20th century. Always pushing the envelope, De Lucchi has carried his radicalism up to the present day, designing lights and furniture that are not only functional but are sculptural and enticing. Alongside his design work for many European brands, De Lucchi has also restored and designed many buildings for international companies, exhibitions and private clients.
One of De Lucchi’s most famous designs is the
Tolomeo light collection which he created alongside Giancarlo Fassina and has become a staple of lighting ever since it was awarded the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 1989. Other light collections by De Lucchi include the popular
Dioscuri collection and the
Logico series.
"There is no reason to design if you don’t want to optimise the world, if you don’t want to create a better condition, if you don’t want to make a contribution to a better world for the next generation.” - Michele De Lucchi
