Klaus Begasse is a German architect and designer, born in Wiesbaden and trained at the University of Stuttgart. After collaborating with architectural practices in Germany and abroad, he founded an interdisciplinary studio in Stuttgart that works across architecture, product design and media design. This cross disciplinary perspective runs through his work, where form, light and context are always considered together rather than as separate layers.
His products are characterised by clear geometry, careful proportion and an interest in how objects sit within real landscapes and urban settings. By focusing on robust materials and controlled light distribution, Begasse creates fittings that feel calm and unobtrusive in daylight, yet come to life when illuminated. This approach has earned him multiple national and international awards in architecture, product design and print design.
For Artemide Architectural, Klaus Begasse has designed families such as Cuneo and Reeds Outdoor, which translate his architectural mindset into outdoor lighting tools. Cuneo offers precise, graphic illumination for paths and façades, while Reeds introduces a more poetic side to exterior lighting, using slender illuminated stems to echo grasses or aquatic plants. Both collections reflect his ability to balance technical performance with a quietly expressive visual language.
