Ferruccio Laviani is an Italian designer, born in Cremona in 1960. He studied architecture at Polytechnic of Milan, graduating in 1986. In 1997 he worked with Castiglioni on the design of the exhibition dedicated to Gio Ponti and Vico Magistretti at the Salone del Mobile. After collaborating with Michele De Lucchi, he opened his own office in Milan in 1991. This same year he became the Art Director at Kartell. Working with many of our top brands, Laviani is known for his vibrant, characterful and contemporary designs, making his lighting debut in 1992 with the vivid and innovative Foscarini Orbital floor lamp.

A designer with many talents, Laviani also oversees exhibitions, corporate identity and show-rooms around the world, making his ever recognisable stamp across international furniture and fashion brands. With products such as the iconic Kartell FL/Y suspensions, and the Kartell Bourgie table lamp it is easy to see how Laviani’s products stay relevant and current in today’s design world.

"When I design I am always quite instinctive. Places, a journey or a subject that fascinates me can make me see things from another perspective." - Ferrucio Laviani
