Anglepoise

British brand, Anglepoise, is renowned for its iconic desk and table lamps with its instantly recognisable silhouettes and spring mechanisms. Their company slogan is Abandon Darkness, and they pride themselves on manufacturing lighting solutions that are built to last and designed to provide a solution to real-world dilemmas, with functionality at the heart of every product. The blueprint for the first Anglepoise lamp was created in 1932 when automotive engineer George Carwardine developed a new type of spring mechanism which could be adjusted at the lightest of touches, yet remain in place once released. In 1935, the Original 1227 lamp was released, an easily adjustable lamp with 3 springs; the same design is still produced today. This design remains the archetypal Anglepoise lamp and an iconic British design.

In 2002, Simon Terry took over the role of Managing Director, but Carwardine continued to work with Anglepoise, developing numerous variations on the design of the classic desk lamp. Today, the brand has several collections, which include collaborations with esteemed British designers Paul Smith and Margaret Howell. Headquartered in Denmead, UK, Anglepoise lamps have lit the desks of designers, the walls of museums, and the homes of creative thinkers around the world.

As of 2024, Anglepoise are officially certified BCorp! This certification is the next step on their journey to continuously improve and set ever higher standards for themselves while learning from and inspiring others.

Products bought from 20.01.2020, have a lifetime guarantee for products bought for and used in a domestic setting. For the guarantee to be valid, products must be registered with Anglepoise within 90 days of purchase.
