Gubi Silk Lantern

Gubi Silk Lantern is available as a floor lamp, pendant, and wall lamp. Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen designed it in 1951 and showed it at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition. It was not produced at the time. GUBI is now putting the design into production for the first time. The cylindrical shape was influenced by traditional Japanese lanterns.

The shade is natural silk, with a walnut veneer ring at the top and bottom. The frame is lacquered steel. When switched on, the silk diffuses the light over the surface of the shade. Some areas appear brighter than others.

Proportions are adapted across the floor, pendant, and wall versions, and the shade height can be adjusted to bring flexibility to each design. Used individually, the lamps create soft atmospheric accents, while repeated arrangements build a harmonious rhythm across a space. Best suited to interiors where soft, atmospheric light is used as an individual accent or in repeated arrangements.
