Parachilna Gweilo HAN GR LED Floor Lamp

The Gweilo HAN GR floor lamp was named after the Chinese word for ghost. With its transparent form and effortless movement, you can probably guess why the designers chose this name. The delicate appearance of this LED floor lamp by Parachilna allows it to glide through a space whilst emitting a ghost-like light. Available in two sizes, this floor lamp can fit elegantly into any environment.

Parachilna uses this acrylic as a way of creating an illusion of light and structure. They say 'you can see the light but only guess the structure', adding to the ghostly atmosphere. The Gweilo LED floor lamp was designed by Partisans, 'an award-winning Toronto-based architecture studio that specializes in the integration of design and technology'. Each Gweilo light is handmade using thermoforming, a technique that allows etched optical grade acrylic sheets to be custom-shaped while they are still in their hot plastic state. This combination of thermoforming and hand sculpting of each individual piece demonstrates how modern technology and classic craftsmanship have both been used to form these incredible luminous structures.
