The Random Light was one of Moooi’s first pieces in their collection. Moooi co-founder Marcel Wanders was immediately impressed by Bertjan Pot’s ethereal design, noting that it was a perfect fit for the brand. In 2010, the Random Collection was aesthetically perfected and reintroduced as the Random II Light. This new iteration boasts a user-friendly experience with an enlarged life cycle. To create each unique shade, a resin-drained yarn is coiled randomly around a beach ball. Once the beach ball is deflated and removed, the shade is left to dry.

The contemporary design of the Random Light II brings a feeling of simplicity and softness into the home. The ethereal shade creates a sense of weightlessness, appearing to float midair. When illuminated, the pendant diffuses light in all directions, playing with shadow as it emits a soft glow.
