The Smithfield suspension designed by Jasper Morrison for Flos has an aluminium body and injection-moulded opalescent polycarbonate diffuser available in either a glossy red, glossy green, glossy black, mud, white or matt black finish. The Smithfield pendant light provides a diffused and generous direct light, thanks to its wide open shade (60cm).
Jasper Morrison reveals that his inspiration came from looking at the lights in London's Smithfield Meat Market. By giving the design the name of this physical location in London, Jasper Morrison not only pays tribute to it, but asserts that Smithfield pendant lamp is a modern restyling of a very well-known and popular shape.
The Smithfield collection also includes a ceiling version, both in LED and retrofit, ideal for spaces where ceiling height is at a premium.
Morrison graduated from The Royal College of Art in 1985 and founded his own design studio in London in 1986 where he founded his passion for the 'super-normal'.
