Artemide Cetra Pendant Light

Artemide Cetra Pendant was designed by Vico Magistretti in 1969, using sections of a sphere to create its distinctive shape. Two white lacquered metal shades are positioned in opposite directions, with the shallow upper section facing the ceiling and the deeper lower section holding an opaline glass globe. The opposing curves give Cetra its layered appearance, with each section also playing a part in how the light is distributed.

Three bulbs sit inside the upper section of Cetra, casting light towards the ceiling. Some of this light is reflected back into the room. A fourth bulb sits within the opaline glass globe underneath, which softens and spreads the light below the pendant. This provides both indirect lighting and illumination directly beneath the shade.

Artemide has brought Cetra back into production in a white finish, keeping the original arrangement of metal shades and glass. The pendant has an adjustable suspension height, allowing it to be positioned above a dining table or used as a central light in a living room. Its combination of direct and indirect illumination also makes it suitable for spaces where general room lighting is needed alongside light focused on a particular area.
