Il Fanale

Il Fanale is a family-run Italian business that believes in the craftsmanship and beauty of made in Italy design. The brand was founded in 1979 by Fausto Dalla Torre and his wife, Luisa Martin, and began as a small workshop on the outskirts of Treviso. The pair wanted to create traditional Italian designs of the highest quality, utilising materials such as copper, brass and iron, which undergo a special oxidation process according to a formula that is still a family secret. Even to this day, all Il Fanale lighting solutions are crafted entirely in Italy. Il Fanale continue its investigation into elegant lighting solutions; they are always open to experimenting with hybrid techniques and finding new ways to express their multifaceted personality in Mediterranean fusion.

At the Il Fanale lab, they combine ancient techniques with cutting-edge technology to create products with sophisticated design, in line with the principles of the best Made in Italy. They prefer to use their hands, head and heart rather than machines when it comes to manufacturing. For this reason, each one of Il Fanale's products acquires a unique character nd is one of a kind. They also have a strong focus on sustainability, prioritising 100% local production, eco-friendly materials and a design intended to last. In 2014, the Bitta lamp by Enzo Berti won a ‘Compasso d'Oro’ Award, the most prestigious award for industrial design in the world, “for adding functionality to a classic and symbolic object, renewing it in a discreet way”.
