Serge Cornelissen is a designer who specialises in architectural lighting and designed his first lighting fixture at 23, granting him over 25 years of experience in the design field. Cornelissen studied Architecture at Sint Lucas Institute in Ghent, Belgium, and after graduating in 1993 he opened his own design studio - Serge Cornelissen Architectural Lighting Product Design. Serge utilised assistance from his father Robert Cornelissen who had been designing lighting since 1982; the pair combined form and technical functionality in their work and were influenced by LED technology.
Over the years the pair have been granted numerous awards, including the Red Dot Design Award on various occasions and the German Design Award and the Design Plus Award. Serge & Robert Cornelissen's designs are displayed in multiple architectural projects worldwide and have worked with both Axolight and Prandina.
Sadly in October 2020, Robert Cornelissen unexpectedly passed away.
