Santiago Roqueta was a Spanish industrial designer and artist, born in 1944 in Barcelona. He studied at Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura (ETSAB) and obtained a PhD in Architecture before going on to found the first Barcelona design editing house in 1969 - Snark Design. The aim of Snark Design was to distribute classic pieces of work, the brand published works by Gerrit Rietveld, Giacomo Balla and Salvador Dali before Roqueta began incorporating his own designs.

Roqueta's work helped define Barcelona as a vital force in European design throughout the 1970s and 1980s, during this time he designed bars, clubs and restaurants and truly left his mark on the world of Spanish design. In addition, Roqueta was also the driving force behind the book publishing project between Santa & Cole and ETSAB to broadcast the work of the masters of the Spanish design field.

Many of his works have been exhibited across the globe, and Santiago Roqueta received numerous awards throughout his years, including the FAD award for the interior design of the Snooker Club and the Silver Delta, and for his Vallvidrera armchair in collaboration with Carles Riart.
