S.R. Cornelissen

Working under the name S./R. Cornelissen, Serge and Robert Cornelissen bring together decades of experience in architectural lighting design. Robert has worked with the lighting industry since 1982, and in 1993 he supported the then newly graduated Serge with his first luminaires. Since then, their collaboration has evolved into a studio whose products are manufactured by lighting brands around the world, with many designs recognised by international awards.

Their work combines a clear, restrained aesthetic with advanced optical and mechanical thinking. Recent projects are built around the latest LED technology, using carefully developed optics to manage glare, efficiency and visual comfort, while the mechanical design focuses on durability, ease of installation and maintenance. Every detail, from heat management through to fixing points, is considered as part of the overall concept rather than as an afterthought.

For Artemide Architectural, S./R. Cornelissen are behind systems such as the Tagora family, which translates this approach into a series of simple, cylindrical forms for recessed, ceiling and suspension use across multiple diameters. These products are designed to be specified as a coherent toolkit, supporting consistent lighting language across large projects in retail, hospitality, workplace and public spaces.
