Rui Pereira & Ryosuke Fukusada

Ryosuke Fukusada was born in Osaka, Japan. He studied product design at Kanazawa College of Art and interior and living design at Domus Academy, Italy. Rui Pereira is a product designer from Portugal. He has a strong interest in learning from others, leading him to live life as a Nomad, living in various cities around the world. He uses his experiences of different cultures and environments to shape his designs.

Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukusada met in Milan while working in the same design office. Despite having very different backgrounds, the two discovered that they shared a common vision: to create long-lasting products that can be passed down through generations. During their time working together, Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukusada’s cultural heritage and experiences have influenced each other’s work, resulting in a unique outlook on design. For HAY, Rui Pereira & Ryosuke Fukusada created the Brim Pendant, inspired by classic pendants, reimagined with modern features.

“Our designs are often inspired by architecture, art, and fashion, trying to find the feeling that best fits the product at the moment. We decide on the colour lines for each product, rather than setting them based on the series.” - Rui Pereira
