Ross Lovegrove is a British designer who was born in 1958. He graduated from Manchester Polytechnic with a 1st Class BA Hons Industrial Design in 1980 and then went on to obtain a Master of Design at the Royal College of Art, London in 1983. Lovegrove's work through the early 80s was spent at Frog Design in West Germany, where he designed tech projects for companies like Sony and Apple. After this period, Lovegrove then moved to Paris as a consultant to Knoll International, where he focused on product design.

For his work, Lovegrove is inspired by the logic and beauty of nature, and his designs possess a trinity between technology, materials science and intelligent organic form. There is always embedded a deeply human and resourceful approach in his designs, which projects an optimism and innovative vitality in everything he touches.

"It’s my interest in depth and permanence, the archaeology and anatomy of life, that pushes me towards hyper-modern, hyper-futuristic things […] What is the point of making a vase in the way you could have made it in the past? That just leads to yet another consumer object." - Ross Lovegrove
