Ron Arad is an experimental designer, born in Tel Aviv in 1951, educated at the Jerusalem Academy of Art and at the Architectural Association in London. In 1981, alongside Caroline Thorman, he co-founded the design and production studio One Off; in 1989, the Ron Arad Associates architecture and design practice was officially formed; and in 2008, Ron Arad Architects was established. His studios have collaborated with world-leading companies such as Vitra, Kartell, and Cappellini. Arad constantly experiments with materials, and his radical re-conception of the form and structure of furniture has put him at the forefront of contemporary design.

His designs are part of numerous public and private collections, including those at the V&A in London, MoMA in New York, MoMA San Francisco and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Ron Arad has also designed a number of Public Art pieces, most recently the Vortext in Seoul, Korea, and the Kesher Sculpture at Tel Aviv University.

"Ideas are never the problem. The problem is deciding which ones to give time to. One easy technique is to close your eyes and think, 'if I went into a gallery and saw this, would I be jealous?' If yes, I’ll do it." - Ron Arad
