Romain Sillon (b.1994) is a French designer whose work spans lighting, furniture, and crafted objects. Originally from Lyon, he studied product design before earning a cabinetmaking qualification, blending engineering precision with a maker’s understanding of materials. He went on to work with renowned studios including BIG-GAME in Lausanne, Sylvain Willenz in Belgium, and Perron & Frères in Paris before establishing his own practice in 2020.
Now based in Paris, Sillon explores mechanics and movement as a source of poetry in design, using intuitive gestures to alter both function and atmosphere. His approach reflects a balance between methodical rigour and sensitivity, seeking to create designs that are both purposeful and emotionally engaging. For HAY he developed the HAY Twist Floor Lamp, a sculptural uplighter with a height-adjustable mechanism that captures his fascination with motion and interaction. Whether through lighting, furniture, or everyday objects, his work is defined by clarity of form, tactile appeal, and a commitment to timelessness and longevity.
