Phillipe Starck was born in France in 1949, and is one of the most famous designers in recent years. He changed the scope of design over many decades. Starck’s father was a aeronautic engineer who instilled in him the idea that invention is a duty, exposing the young designer to creation and how it can benefit others. This idea has followed Starck across his whole career as his philosophy is based on creating objects that aid in everyday life with the user at the centre of all of his works.

Phillipe Starck studied at the École Nissim de Camondo, Paris, and in 1968 set up his first company. Always interested in design as a total concept, in the 1970s he made a reputation for himself by creating interiors for Parisian nightclubs. He is consistently contributing his talent and vision to the modern interior movement, Starck's creations convey both thought and taste and have reshaped how we furnish our interiors.

"The success of a creation lies in its harmony and the harmony of all its parameters. A creation is like a ball; It starts out a bit wobbly and becomes more and more polished with a lot of work. When it turns into a crystal ball, it means that all the parameters are perfectly and harmoniously balanced. - Phillipe Starck
