Oscar Tusquets Blanca is a rare breed: an architect, designer, painter, and writer whose work straddles art and function with ease. Born in Barcelona in 1941, he trained in architecture while also studying at the School of Arts and Crafts of Llotja, eventually co-founding Studio Per and later collaborating with figures like Salvador Dalí. His work spans furniture, lighting, interiors, and urban design, yet always reflects a personal, humanistic touch.
For Santa & Cole, his most iconic contribution is the Bib Luz lamp, an out-of-the-box solution to lighting bookshelves, first imagined in the 1980s and still relevant today. In addition to his design legacy, Tusquets has been a trustee of the Gala–Salvador Dalí Foundation and remains a respected voice in contemporary Spanish design. His vision is playful yet deeply considered, bridging poetic narrative with everyday utility.
"My whole life I have made architecture and design at the same time – and painting, and some writing." - Oscar Tusquets Blanca
