Nika Zupanc
Nika Zupanc is a modern designer, born in Slovenia. Zupanc graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2000, before opening her own design studio in 2008. Her studio focuses on product and interior design, their work is constantly involving into fresh projects that grow from distinctive interpretations of modern culture. Zupanc quickly achieved fame with one of her first works, the Lolita lamp, produced by Moooi. That same year, she made her debut at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. Her ironic and romantic style immediately attracted international attention and resulted in impressive encounters with various brands - this led to Zupanc being awarded Elle 'Woman of the Year' in Slovenia in 2015. Zupanc’s pieces carry an emotional charge as well as being exquisitely finished, which is why Elle USA characterised her work as punk elegance. There's a touch of theatre in her work, her visual language comes from deep within and is about communicating the things that cannot be told.

"I believe design today has a very strong voice and a great storytelling ability, my designs are therefore always a story. This is created by merging the philosophy of our studio with the philosophy of the company I work with. This interesting and fruitful relationship creates exciting new products.” - Nika Zupanc
