Moisés Hernández is a Mexican designer whose work explores Mexican traditions, craftsmanship, and culture. Drawing inspiration from bustling Mexico City, his work conveys a sense of energy and vibrancy. Hernández often reimagines typical household objects, improving them by using modern tools, materials, and technology, while offering a fresh perspective that brings the pieces to life. For HAY, Moisés Hernández created the LBM Table Lamp, a monolithic design inspired by the works of Mexican architect Luis Barragán Morfín.

Moisés Hernández studied industrial design in Mexico City before studying the MA in Product Design at the Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne, ECAL, where he graduated in 2013. After completing his studies, Hernández returned to Mexico City, where he opened his design studio. Since then, he has won numerous awards, including The Good Design Award by the Chicago Athenaeum and British Council’s Creative Economy YCE Fashion and Design Award.

“The future of the Mexican design scene seems very exciting and positive. Young designers, skilled craftspeople and creatives coming from all over the world now form Mexico City’s creative community…” - Moisés Hernández
