Martino Gamper first got into design at the age of 14 when he became an apprentice furniture maker in Italy. Gamper went on to study sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, before completing his Masters at the Royal College of Art, London in 2000. Gamper continues to work from his studio in London, where he collaborates with notable brands worldwide.

For his renowned installation “100 chairs in 100 days”, Martino Gamper reconfigured the design of 100 chairs that were discarded around the streets of London. Over 100 days, unusual, poetic, and sometimes humorous chairs were created, characterised by Hamper’s deep knowledge of design history. As well as installations, Martino Gamper specialises in interior design, one-off commissions, and mass-produced products for the lighting and furniture industry.

“I’ve always tried to keep a balance between using materials that can either last or have less impact and creating objects that people treasure and will hopefully keep and live with for a long time. But we should all do more to affect our and the next generations' future positively.” - Martino Gamper
