Markus Johansson

Markus Johansson graduated from Design from the Academy of Art and Design in Gothenburg in 2011. His interest in design started at a young age when he grew up in a creative environment. He was greatly influenced by his grandfather, who owned a furniture company that had been in their family for three generations. His style of design is incredibly varied, but often consists of interlocking and twisted forms that are as sculptural as they are functional.

After graduating from university, Markus Johansson opened his own design studio where he has collaborated with a range of distinguished brands including Karl Andersson & Söner, Mogg, and Le Klint. It was during this collaboration with Le Klint that Johansson created his most successful lighting design “Carronade”, a functional lighting solution that’s full of character. He specialises in lighting fixtures, furniture, and homeware accessories. Throughout his career, Johansson’s work has been recognised through a range of notable awards including the second place award in Markslöjd Light Price 2009, third place award in Markslöjd Light Price 2011, and third place in Glimåkra design competition 2010.
