Louise Campbell is a Danish furniture and lighting designer, born in Copenhagen in 1970. Her father was Danish, whilst her mother was British, leading to her being educated in both countries. Campbell graduated from the London College of Furniture in 1992, before returning to Denmark and continuing her studies in Industrial Design at Denmark's Design School, where she graduated in 1995.
In 1996, Louise Campbell opened her own design studio, where she has worked independently since, and began focusing on product and interior design projects. Her work is described as playful and experimental, and is reputed for gently twisting not only everyday objects and situations, but also materials and manufacturing processes in new directions.
Campbell's combination of Scandinavian rationalism and femininity, and perhaps her dual nationality, gives the works of Louise Campbell an unusual edge. She has worked with a variety of brands, including Louis Poulsen, Hermés, Royal Copenhagen, HAY, and Muuto. She has also won a range of awards, including the Good Design Award and the Danish Arts Foundation's lifetime honorary award.
