Jurgen Bey

Jurgen Bey was born in Soest, the Netherlands, in 1965. His career in design was launched after studying at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, where he graduated in 1989. In 2002, he cofounded Studio Makkink & Bey along with architect Rianne Makkink. With experience in fashion, design, and architecture, Jurgen Bey can prompt new insights and perspectives into each stage of the design process. Bey believes in the importance of analytical design, believing that it's fundamental for a new culture in a city, public building, or house.

Studio Makkink & Bey has been involved in various projects, ranging from interior design, product design, public space projects, architecture, exhibition, and shop-window design, to research and applied arts projects. Since its conception, Makkink & Bey has been awarded several notable awards, including the Lensvelt interior award in 2003, and the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund in 2005, Woonbeurspin in 2008. Rey’s designs have been produced by several international brands, including Royal Tichelaar Makkum and Moooi.
