Herzog & De Meuron

Herzog & de Meuron is an international architectural practice based in Basel, Switzerland. Established in 1978, the practice is led by the two founders together with the Partners and the CEO. Today, it combines an international team of over 500 collaborators, all of whom are engaged in a wide range of projects across the world. The studio goes beyond a specific brief, beyond the site and its physicality, beyond convention, with an open and impartial approach.

They work beyond the usual disciplines, seeking collaborations and solutions with the like-minded, the equally committed, with those who recognise the need to look at the world with a fresh and critical eye. Throughout the development of their projects, objects have been designed - pieces of furniture, lighting, textiles, and architectural details, such as coat hooks or door handles. These Objects are tailor-made for specific buildings, places, and the people who use them.

Through teamwork amongst Partners, Associates and their project teams, including those in their regional Studios, and in exchange with all parties involved, from politicians to craftsmen, Herzog & De Meuron addresses all perspectives and creates eye-catching and functional designs for a variety of spaces.
